Western Circuit
The Western Circuit is geographically the largest circuit in England. Stretching as it does from Truro to just west of Guildford, the circuit has 1136 members. The membership list consists of High Court Judges, Circuit Judges, District Judges, practitioners in all fields of law and a number of academic lawyers whose base is in the south and west of the country.
The Leader, who represents the views of circuiteers to official bodies, is currently a London practitioner. The Junior is in charge of the day-to-day business of the circuit and is situated in Southampton. The Wine Treasurer, a traditional title for the person in charge of social arrangements, is currently situated in Southampton. The circuit office is run by the circuit secretary based in Winchester. The committee is drawn from members from all over the circuit ensuring that all views are considered. A newsletter published each term contains items of interest and historical research. The Circuit has published three books, "Pie Powder", "Circuit Ghosts" and "Recollections of the Western Circuit".
