A Best Practice Guide to Listing

The Bar Council often receive enquiries from barristers about listing policy and what account should be taken of their availability when decisions are taken about listing.

Barristers may therefore be interested to learn that "A Best Practice Guide to Listing" has recently been distributed to all London Resident Judges. It is designed to guide Courts on how to approach listing and to promote consistency. In particular, it draws attention to paragraph IV.41.8 of the Consolidated Criminal Practice Direction and advises that PCMHs and trials should be listed so far as practicable to enable the instructed/trial advocate to appear.
