Professional Practice Committee guidance on the Provision of Services Regulations 2009

22 February 2011

Guidance for barristers produced by the Professional Practice Committee of the Bar Council on the Provision of Services Regulations 2009 (the 'Regulations') has been sent to all Heads of Chambers this week. The guidance is also available on the Bar Council website at /assets/documents/Provision%20of%20Services%20guidance.pdf

Directive 2006/123 on services in the Internal Market (the 'Directive') imposes new obligations on barristers in respect of the information which barristers must provide to their clients. The Directive was implemented in the United Kingdom via the Regulations, which came into force on 28 December 2009.

This guidance is intended to help all barristers to meet their obligations under the Directive and the Regulations. If you have any queries about this guidance, please contact the Bar Council's Ethical Enquiries Line on 020 7611 1307.
