  • 24 January 2011 - From 7 February 2011, the Legal Services Commission (LSC) will begin taking over from the Crown Courts the processing, validation and payment of criminal legal aid fees under the Advocates’ Graduated Fee Scheme (AGFS).

  • 21 January 2011 - The inaugural meeting of the Association of London Welsh Lawyers (ALWL) will take place on Thursday 17 February, 18:00-19:00, in Committee Room 4A of the House of Lords. A drinks reception will follow.

  • 10 January 2011 - Nichola Higgins, of 15 New Bridge Street Chambers, assumed the post of Chairman of the Young Barristers’ Committee (YBC) of the Bar Council on 1 January 2011 following her successful term as Vice Chairman in 2010. The YBC represents young barristers in England and Wales.

  • 5 January 2011 - The Chief Executive of the Bar Council, David Hobart, will be leaving to take up a new post in May 2011. He will remain at the Bar Council until May. Since his appointment to the Bar Council in 2004, he has played a central role in the development of the Bar Standards Board, the functionally independent regulator for the Bar of England and Wales.
