  • President of the Family Division Addresses Bar Council's Law Reform Committee

    30 November 2011 - The Law Reform Committee of the Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, held its annual lecture on Tuesday 29 November. The Rt. Hon. Sir Nicholas Wall, President of the Family Division and Head of Family Justice for England and Wales, spoke on “Changing the Culture: The role of the Bar and Bench in the management of cases involving children”, calling for changes to the traditional management of cases to be applied by barristers and the judiciary.

  • Data Registrations Warning

    21 November 2011 - Update for the profession: the Bar Council is receiving reports that chambers are being approached by a company called Information Compliance Services offering to register chambers with the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act for a fee of £150. The cost of registering directly with the Information Commissioner is £35.
