  • 31 October 2011 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, has warned the Government of the serious consequences of pursuing far reaching cuts to legal aid, as the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill reaches Report Stage in the House of Commons.

  • 27 October 2011 - Unlocking Disputes, the groundbreaking new industry-led campaign to promote London as the global dispute resolution centre, will be unveiled this evening at Rolls Building, London’s brand new court complex specialising in financial, business and property litigation.

  • 27 October 2011 - The Chairman and Chairman-Elect of the Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, are leading a delegation to the International Bar Association’s Annual Conference in Dubai. Over 70 barristers will be taking part in the Conference, which is the largest number to date, demonstrating the ever increasing international outlook of the profession.

  • 24 October 2011 - An alliance of organisations which represents the rights and needs of women, children, families and victims of domestic abuse and/or are engaged in the administration of family justice, has published a Manifesto for Family Justice, ahead of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (LASPO) Bill moving into Report Stage in the House of Commons.

  • 24 October 2011 - This Note is to alert chambers to the effect on barristers’ remuneration in civil legal aid cases resulting from the Community Legal Service Funding Amendment No 2 Order: (SI 2011 No.2006) and to invite comments as to any amendments required to this Order.

  • 11 October 2011 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, has warned of the dangers of adopting a European Sales Law, the latest legislative proposal by the European Commission which would introduce a second contract law into the laws of all Member States.

  • 10 October 2011 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, is set to stage its 26th Annual Conference on Saturday 5 November at London’s Hilton Metropole. Offering a wide array of speakers and workshops, a diverse range of delegates will come together to consider the conference theme, “Shaping the future: A modern Bar for a modern market”.
