20 December 2012 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, has said that the public interest demands that excellence, not competence, must be at the heart of any quality assurance scheme, as the Joint Advocacy Group (JAG) published the revised Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates (QASA).

11 December 2012 - Update for the profession: on 20 December from 17:00 to 17:30, the Bar Council will be holding its second 'Tweet the Chairman', where Michael Todd QC, Chairman of the Bar until 31 December 2012, will personally answer any concerns, questions and thoughts about the profession which are tweeted to @TheBarCouncil.

10 December 2012 - Maura McGowan QC, the incoming Chairman of the Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, will this evening deliver her inaugural address at the Bar Council’s offices, in which she will set out a vision for a profession which is engaged and in control of its future.
