14 November 2012 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, today joins the Personal Injuries Bar Association (PIBA) to call on Peers to hold the Government to account on plans to restrict severely access to justice for injured workers, ahead of the House of Lords’ Second Reading of the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Bill.

13 November 2012 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, and the Bar Standards Board (BSB), the regulator of barristers in England and Wales, have today published the second edition of Bar Barometer, an annual report on statistical trends within the Bar.

12 November 2012 - The Bar Council and the Bar Standards Board have published the second annual Bar Barometer report. The report details trends in the demographic profile of the Bar between 2007 and 2011/12.

10 November 2012 - Michael Todd QC, Chairman of the Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, will today tell delegates at the Bar’s 27th Annual Conference, The Modern Bar – Accessible, Adaptable and Relevant, that it must fight to shape its own future or be lost forever.

10 November 2012 - Alison Gurden of 1 Gray’s Inn Square has won the 16th annual Sydney Elland Goldsmith Bar Pro Bono Award, which will be presented by the Chairman of the Bar at the Annual Bar Conference today (Saturday 10 November).

10 November 2012 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, today announces the winners of this year’s Legal Reporting Awards. Danny Shaw, Home Affairs News Correspondent for BBC News, and Owen Bowcott, jointly with Maya Wolfe-Robinson, both Legal Affairs reporters for The Guardian, are the winners of this year’s broadcast and written categories respectively. They will be presented with their awards by the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve QC MP, at the Annual Bar Conference today (Saturday 10 November).

31 October 2012 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, will today host its second Disability Conference, enabling delegates to address issues affecting disabled practitioners, reasonable adjustments to assist them to stay in practice, and how best to manage sensitively colleagues and other individuals with mental health problems, both in chambers and in the courtroom.
