4 October 2012 - The Bar Council’s Young Barristers’ Committee (YBC), which represents young barristers in England and Wales, will host the annual Young Bar Conference this Saturday, focusing on the importance of developing excellent advocacy skills for young barristers and pupils.

2 October 2012 - Commenting on the retirement, on 1 December, of Sir Nicholas Wall as President of the Family Division and Head of Family Justice for England and Wales, Nicholas Cusworth QC, Chairman of the Family Law Bar Association, said: "Sir Nicholas Wall has been the most distinguished family lawyer of his generation. He was equally at home with cases involving money and children at the Bar, a very rare commodity. As a judge, he was brave in asserting what he saw as the right way, especially where the interests of children were concerned."

28 September 2012 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, will this weekend call on the Labour Party to make a stronger public case against damaging justice policy at the Party's Annual Conference in Manchester.

27 September 2012 - Update for the profession: candidates standing for the 2013 Bar Council can now be announced. Ballot papers will be issued by the Bar Council not later than 5 October 2012, and must be returned to the Bar Council Offices no later than 17.00 on 19 October 2012.
