  • 22 February 2013 - Update for the profession; The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, has called on the Ministry of Justice to correct a number of deficiencies in the Conditional Fee Agreements (CFA) Order and Damages-based Agreements (DBA) Regulations.

  • 29 January 2013 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, has welcomed the Bar Standards Board’s (BSB) proposed changes to Public Access training, which look to ‘enhance the course content and introduce an element of formal assessment' to ensure barristers have the requisite knowledge and skills to carry out public access work.

  • 23 January 2013 - The Bar Council, which represents barristers in England and Wales, has welcomed the 5:2 majority ruling of the Supreme Court against extending legal professional privilege (LPP) to non-lawyers, following a case put forward by financial services group, Prudential, requesting that LPP be extended to protect advice given by accountants.

  • 16 January 2013 - The Bar Council and the Law Society are seeking to recruit a new Head of Secretariat for Queen’s Counsel Appointments (QCA) on the retirement of the current post holder. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wishes to play a leading part in senior appointments in the legal profession, supporting the work of the Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel which makes recommendations to the Lord Chancellor and the Queen.
