Bar Council and Law Society seek to recruit new Head of Secretariat for Queen’s Counsel Appointments

The Bar Council and the Law Society are seeking to recruit a new Head of Secretariat for Queen's Counsel Appointments (QCA) on the retirement of the current post holder. This is a unique opportunity for someone who wishes to play a leading part in senior appointments in the legal profession, supporting the work of the Queen's Counsel Selection Panel which makes recommendations to the Lord Chancellor and the Queen. 

QCA is a small not for profit company run on public service lines. This post is in effect the Chief Executive of the organisation, who acts as a source of advice to the Selection Panel, ensures that its policies are implemented and manages and drives the work of the small Secretariat. The Head of Secretariat also reports to the Company Directors in relation to management and resourcing issues.

This is a full-time post which carries a salary of £70,000. The successful applicant will have proven administrative experience at a senior level in Government or other public service, the legal profession or in recruitment and selection.
