Bar Handbook 2008
The New Bar Handbook
The Bar Council is striving to continue to provide products and services that offer real value and practical support to members of the profession in their day-to-day practice. The Bar Handbook is a new annual publication from the Bar Council with Lexis Nexis Butterworths. For the first time, it brings together all the Bar Council’s current guidance and advice, ordered and contextualised by the authors, in a single point of reference. There has never been a better time to produce this portable, concise compendium: both the current regulatory landscape and the practicalities of practising at the Bar are changing rapidly, whether it be in relation to legal aid, future business models for chambers, opening up access to the Bar, the formation of the Bar Standards Board or the reforms being made by the Legal Services Act 2007. This Handbook seeks to clarify the important distinction between the Bar Council’s representative and regulatory functions.
