Counsel Magazine

Counsel: Incorporating Bar Council and Bar Standards Board News

Launched in 1985, Counsel is the monthly Journal of the Bar of England and Wales. As the Bar's own magazine, it is largely written by and for barristers but it is of interest to all lawyers.

An effective campaigning voice, Counsel covers the key issues facing the Bar and the legal system, in addition to profiles, conference reports, personal finance, arts reviews, chambers' announcements and the witty and irreverent 'agony uncle' column for lighter moments.

A distinguished editorial board, mainly drawn from the ranks of practising barristers, works closely with the editorial team to produce a vibrant monthly magazine. With a distribution to 23,000 barristers, Counsel is one of the largest circulation legal magazines in the UK.

Counsel is published 12 times a year by LexisNexis Butterworths on behalf of the General Council of the Bar.
