Direct Access to Justice
Organised by the Access to the Bar Committee
Public Access is a tool that sits alongside traditionalmeans of instructing barristers. It allows barristers to reaffirm their ability to provide excellent advocacy and specialist legal knowledge in a modern, efficient and cost-effective manner. Direct access is of huge potential benefit to the customer and an enormous opportunity for the Bar, providing a rich source of work that is already being tapped in wide areas of civil law. The Bar may shortly be able to accept instructions directly from the public in Family, Crime and Immigration work. This workshop’s emphasis will be on change and the leading role that direct access can play in delivering justice to all.
