International Internships with the Paris Bar

26 June 2009

October and November 2009

The Bar Council is pleased to offer practising barristers who are fluent in French and under 35 years old the opportunity to apply for one of six international internships with the Paris Bar this autumn. The programme consists of:

  • One month of study at the Ecole de Formation du Barreau, with a focus on legal ethics, the legal system and legal procedures in France.
  • A one month internship at a Paris Law Firm, chosen to suit the intern’s interests.

The academic and law firm components are provided by the Paris Bar free of charge, however the candidate would be expected to pay for their travel, accommodation and living expenses. Successful applicants may benefit from a stipend being made available through the French Embassy, which would help cover these costs. All participants must ensure they are covered by legal liability insurance.

To apply, please submit your CV along with a short covering letter (detailing your aims of participating, how you would intend to apply the experience to your current or future work and the experience and skills you would bring to the programme) and the enclosed equality and diversity monitoring form. Please email these documents to Sarah Richardson at by 5pm on Friday 26 June. Applications will be assessed and all applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by Friday 3rd July.

If you have any queries please contact Sarah by email or on 0207 611 1316.
