Legal Services Commission – Training for Family Fee Schemes from 2010

6 September 2010

Launch of 68 national training events for providers on new fees

National training events are being organised to help providers prepare for the Family Fee Schemes 2010.

The LSC will be implementing the new schemes on 14 October 2010. These are:

  • A family advocacy scheme (FAS). This creates a single graduated fee scheme, covering payments to both solicitor advocates and barristers for public and private family law cases.
  • A fixed fee private family law representation scheme (PFLRS). This pays solicitors standard fees, covering work (excluding advocacy) from the issue of proceedings up to the conclusion of the final hearing.

Why providers should go to the training

It is important providers attend the training as:

  • Providers need to be aware of the new fee schemes arrangement. These are different from the old fee schemes.
  • The training will ensure providers know what they will be paid, claim accurately and receive correct payment.

How to book the training

There will be 43 events for solicitors and 25 events for barristers, during September and early October. All events are free, but no CPD points will be available.

For a calendar of events and details on how to book, please go to Training for Family Fees from 2010.

A provider pack will be available online in August. Providers should familiarise themselves with the contents before the training.

Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, and initially limited to one place per firm. So book in advance to secure a place.

If you have any questions, please contact the Family Team.
