Bar Council and CPS agree Protocol on Performance Issues

25 September 2008

The Bar Council and the CPS have agreed a procedure for handling CPS/BAR Performance Issues in relation to advocacy. The agreement is the result of the hard work of the Advocacy Liaison Group, which was tasked with identifying a route for reporting and handling performance issues in relation to advocacy.

The procedure will provide a structured approach for performance issues to be raised in writing through a tiered system, with the aim of ensuring that the issue is addressed effectively at a local level, but with the possibility of escalating matters when issues are not capable of local resolution.

The Protocol is available on this website. A joint letter from Timothy Dutton QC and Mike Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer CPS is also available.
