11 February 2009
The Bar Council’s International Committee is preparing to launch a Middle East Interest Group, which will be chaired by the International Committee’s Member responsible for the region.
The Interest Group will be an informal body of barristers with a practice in the Middle East region or with a proven interest in establishing such a practice.
The purpose of the Group is to:
- share expertise with each other and the wider bar on issues related to the region;
- inform the International Committees strategy in relation to business development in the region;
- enable members to participate in events which promote the business interests of the Bar in the Middle East and in the planning and implementation of such events.
It is envisaged that the Group will meet twice per year. Interested members of the profession or relevant staff members of chambers (e.g. Business Development Managers or Senior Clerks) should contact Rukaiya Bhegani by 15 March. Admittance is based on the abovementioned criteria and is by discretion of the Chair.
