Bar Council Chairman – “We’re on the precipice of change”
Nicholas Green QC, the Chairman of the Bar Council, which represents over 15,000 barristers in England and Wales, has told barristers that the profession is “on the precipice of change” in his address to the Bar Council’s Annual Remuneration Conference.
Addressing delegates, in London, on Saturday 19 June, Nicholas Green said that the publicly funded Bar would have to:
  • Embrace new business structures;
  • Work more closely and constructively with the CPS; and
  • Gear up to contract directly with the Legal Services Commission.
The Conference was also addressed by speakers including Baroness Ruth Deech DBE, Chair of the Bar Standards Board and Professor Stephen Mayson.
