Designed for barristers, this course focuses on the specific data protection obligations and responsibilities of barristers as data controllers in their own practice. Barristers will learn how to risk assess and improve their current practices, to identify areas of exposure, develop necessary policies and procedures to ensure GDPR compliance.

Content includes:

•             Introduction to and history of GDPR

•             Key definitions under GDPR

•             Definitions of the 6 GDPR principles and their practical use

•             The rights of data subjects

•             Subject access requests

•             The ICO and related powers

•             Data Breaches and how to handle them

•             Risks of a data breach

•             International transfers of data

•             Sample crisis situations.

Our half day GDPR training session is an overview of data protection legislation, the key changes with the introduction of GDPR and how they affect your Chambers.

Designed for Chambers staff, this course focuses upon the specific data protection challenges facing chambers today and raises awareness of their responsibilities under data protection. Chambers staff will learn how to appropriately manage the personal information they process, both on behalf of their Chambers and their barristers.
