• 26 January 2017 - Samuel Linehan, winner of the Bar Council’s Law Reform Essay Competition 2016 on the topic of compensation for victims of miscarriages of justice.

  • 16 January 2017 - Professor Martin Chalkley has advised the Bar Council on remuneration matters since 1995. As a consultant member of the Bar’s AGFS Working Group, Professor Chalkley has analysed and modelled all of the fee data. Drawing on this experience and expertise, Professor Chalkley has written for the Bar Council to communicate critical details about how the new AGFS scheme has been developed and how its anticipated impact can usefully be evaluated.

  • 12 January 2017 - The Bar was presented with an opportunity to offer the MoJ thoughts on a redesign of the scheme. A group of barristers, junior and senior, set to work. They were assisted by Professor Martin Chalkley, who has provided the Bar with assistance on AGFS during the whole of its twenty-year lifetime.
