    23 September 2014 - The candidates who are standing in the election for the 2015 Bar Council have been announced. Ballot papers will be issued by the Bar Council not later than 3 October 2014, and must be returned to arrive at the Bar Council Offices not later than 10.00 on 20 October 2014.

  • 19 September 2014 - The Bar Council will make its case to Parliamentarians this party conference season to stress the importance of fair access to justice for all, and highlight the challenges involved in delivering an effective and efficient system of justice in this time of financial austerity.

  • 19 September 2014 - The Bar Council has published the third edition of its annual report, ‘Representing the Bar’, which focuses on the organisation’s representational activities and performance against key strategic aims for 2013-14.

  • 18 September 2014 - The Bar Council has today published a report, based on interviews and a survey of legal practitioners, assessing the impact of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act (LASPO) 2012 on our system of justice a year after implementation in April 2013.

  • 15 September 2014 - The Bar Council has responded to the announcement made by the Ministry of Justice on training of advocates for vulnerable witnesses.

  • 12 September 2014 - The Bar Council is inviting applications for the 2014 Legal Reporting Awards. The Awards recognise print and broadcast journalists whose work contributes to a greater public understanding of legal issues.

  • 11 September 2014 - Update for the profession: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bar of England and Wales will be held at 11:00 on Saturday 20 September 2014.

  • 4 September 2014 - Annual elections for the Bar Council will take place this autumn and successful candidates will join from 1 January 2015 for a three-year term.
