About your chambers:

42 BR Barristers invites applications for a probationary tenancy in our Civil Groups commencing in Autumn 2025.

We are a directory-ranked and award-winning multi-disciplinary set of more than 130 members with five core practice areas. We relocated to new premises in Staple Inn at the end of 2023.

Our highly regarded Family Group is an integral part of 42 BR and has an outstanding reputation in both public and private law and financial remedy work. We have 5 family silks and more than 60 family barristers to support you as you develop your family law practice.

About the candidate:

As a probationary tenant at 42 BR, you will be fully supervised and assessed, with a definite view to full tenancy after six months. You will also develop a significant case load of your own and can expect to be going to court on your own cases regularly.

We place strong emphasis on learning the principles of managing a practice at the independent Bar, and how to interact with clerks and solicitors as well as managing client relationships.

We look for individuals who have the potential to become outstanding barristers. We are keen to recruit bright, independently minded people who are articulate, confident, and perceptive.

You should be keen to learn, be able to get on with people at all levels, and be able to demonstrate original thinking, common sense, and good judgment. You should possess a minimum of a 2.1 degree, not necessarily in law.
