The Terms of Reference are:

  1. To keep under review the development of the work of the Bar in England and Wales
  2. To consider matters affecting the administration of justice, rights of audience for people other than barristers and other matters affecting the interests of the Bar
  3. To maintain relations with and making representations to government, the EU, the Law Society and other organisations with common interests in the administration of justice
  4. To monitor and liaise with the BMIF;
  5. To support the strategice aims of the Bar Council, as published.
  6. To coordinate and monitor the work of the Direct Access Panel, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and the IT Panel, to include:
  • Agreeing the appointment of Chairs, in collaboration with the Chairman of the Bar Council;

  • Settling and agreeing terms of reference;

  • Settling and agreeing business plans;

  • Receiving monthly reports and monitoring the progress of work
