What Are We After?

We are looking for a third six pupil who has the potential to become an outstanding barrister. We are keen to recruit a bright, independently-minded person who is articulate, confident, and perceptive. The Pupillage

Your pupillage will be for six months. The starting date is flexible. You will have one pupil supervisor. You will also have a significant case load of your own and do expect to be going to court on your own cases. We place great worth on training a third six pupil how to learn the principles of managing a practice and learning how to interact with clerks and solicitors and also to manage both lay and professional client expectations. We will train you to seek out detail and be precise in how you problem solve never forget the need for creativity within the process of developing commercial solutions that are real as well as realistic.

Criminal Team:
Applications are sought from candidates with experience of conducting a wide range of hearings in the criminal courts, for both the prosecution and defence.  The successful candidates will be committed to practicing in crime.

Civil Team:
Applications are sought from candidates with Direct Access accreditation and the adaptability to cover a wide range of mixed civil law.

9 King's Bench Walk currently has three vacancies for third six pupils with experience predominantly in criminal law.
Successful applicants will be kept busy conducting cases, for both defence and prosecution, in the magistrates' courts every day. Third six pupils will have ample opportunity to develop a Crown Court practise, prosecuting and defending and the scope to develop and refine advocacy skills is therefore substantial. We also encourage pupils to develop their own practise in family, immigration or civil law and we have experienced practitioners in all areas who will be able to advise and guide third six pupils who wish to broaden their areas of specialisation.

St Ives Chambers is looking to recruit a Third Six pupil to commence as soon as possible (with a view to securing tenancy), to practise in Crime, with the possibility of some Regulatory work in future.

We invite applications for a Third Six pupil to join the Criminal team to commence as soon as possible.

Applicants will recently have undertaken a First and Second Six predominantly in crime, and will already have substantial advocacy experience in both the Magistrates and Crown Courts. We anticipate that successful applicants will have a busy diary. Applications for tenancy will be considered after a 6 month period.

Applicants should be dedicated to practising criminal work, in addition to having a desire to work primarily in the Midlands.
