Justitia Chambers
Fox Court
14 Gray's Inn Road
London
WC1X 8HN
We are a small set specialising in Immigration, asylum and
unlawful detention.
We established ourselves in 2016 to address the needs of parents
and carers and for those who did not want to be part of a huge
set.
All third six pupils we take on will receive intensive on
the job training throughout pupillage and into tenancy. We vet all
cases given to you and will go through the brief to ensure you are
on top of everything. Two of our tenants are over 20 years call.
One of our tenants was a solicitor for 10 years.
Any time out needed for carer's responsibilities will be
treated as a priority and we will work around it supporting you. We
tend to work collectively in our big cases in a job share. This
means that there is flexibility for our members and a
collegiate non competitive approach resulting in all our clients
being familiar with the barrister team.
We undertake a great deal of direct access work and would
welcome an applicant willing to apply for a DA license. If DA
litigation were undertaken there would be consistent paralegal back
up.
We are looking for someone with a civil/ Immigration and public
law background to help us with our growing unlawful detention
caseload. We are also particularly interested in applicants with a
strong public law / legal research/ drafting background who can
take on junior or co counsel work in Administrative Court and
Court of Appeal. We are robust pro Applicant advocates and fearless
when it comes to standing up to the Home Office and Court should it
be necessary in our client's interests particularly in criminal
deportation cases - where our client's are not always popular with
the court. We believe in justice for all even former prisoners.
Commission is 10% after tenancy - with 5% in the first few
months of tenancy.
Our particular working space is completely conducive to kids
coming in on paperwork days. There are 10 children between us so we
are more than happy for you to bring your little or big ones. We
have a strongly nurturing environment where we focus on the
whole person and your potential.
Any offer of a third six will include tenancy upon conclusion.
Our management and finances are administrator and not barrister
led.
Please contact Shivani Jegarajah on 07922283009 for further
information. Please mail your applications to shivani@justitiachambers.co.uk.
Feel free to call for any questions - we are very informal.

9 Gough
Square
London
EC4A 3DG
We are currently inviting applications for up to two third six pupils who
wish to practise in criminal law only due to an increase in
work within this team and exceptional business need. We are seeking
candidates who can demonstrate excellent analytical and advocacy
abilities, sound judgement and a genuine desire to develop a
criminal only practice. Successful applicants will only receive
criminal work and will not be clerked in any other practice areas.
It is essential that successful applicants are on the general CPS
Advocate Panel at level 2.
We envisage that the successful applicants will
start with us in October/November with our two 12-month pupils (who
will cover work in all areas that chambers practices in), but that
is flexible and subject to alternative agreement. No financial
award is offered, but during the period of the third six pupillage
no chambers rent will be levied. Third six pupils are responsible
for obtaining and maintaining adequate insurance (at least £500,000
of cover) through Bar Mutual whilst practising at 9 Gough
Square.
These 'third six' criminal only pupils will be able
to apply for tenancy in the summer of 2020. It is anticipated that
the third six pupils will (upon application) be considered for
tenancy alongside our 12-month pupils.
[1]
To apply, please send a C.V. and a covering letter,
specifying the names of two referees (or attaching references if
they are already obtained), to Claire Harden-Frost at charden@9goughsquare.co.uk.
Applications will be treated in strict confidence.
We operate an equal opportunity recruitment policy
and encourage applications from candidates from all backgrounds
regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, marital
status, religion or disability.
Owing to the changing nature of applicants' situations, there is
no formal deadline for applications; and we may offer a third six
pupillage to a preferred candidate at any time. Interviews will be
arranged at the mutual convenience of applicants and interviewers,
likely on weekday evenings; reasonable adjustments will be made

stage in their pupillage are able to assist with and observe these
high profile matters and are actively encouraged to do so.
Our pupils are thoroughly immersed in life in Chambers, both
professionally and socially, with regular opportunities to take
part in our renowned OIC Roadshow and Mock Trial programmes
training police officers. All participate in marketing events with
the chance to meet our instructing solicitors, the Judiciary and
members of the Bar outside of Chambers.
Our 2nd and 3rd six pupils appear in
the Crown Courts on regular occasions, both prosecuting and
defending.
We work regularly for the National Probation Service, the DWP
and the DVLA and all pupils are briefed by those bodies during
their time at 9 KBW.
We have a wide range of defence solicitors, with whom we
maintain strong relationships and who have briefed Chambers for
many years as well as new solicitors, for whom we always aim to
provide a service that ensures briefs will be regularly sent to
pupils and members in the future.
We encourage all to apply for Advocate Panels from
2nd six onwards and our experienced Managing Consultant
and clerking team will always assist those keen to do so.
We have members who undertake disclosure work for the SFO and
many are briefed on matters as members of the Government Legal
department AG's List (GLD).
Chambers undertakes a considerable amount of Regulatory work for
the Nursing & Midwifery Council, Ofsted, RICS and the General
Pharmaceutical Council.
Pupils will have the opportunity to undertake training for the
Nursing & Midwifery Council and thereafter to be instructed by
them as well as to apply for the Junior Junior GLD panel.
Members are instructed in a range of cases involving
breaches of the regulatory requirements and serious quasi-criminal
/ regulatory allegations such as sexual misconduct in the
workplace, mental health and fatalities and due to our overarching
expertise in both criminal and regulatory law, members have
been instructed to advise and represent professional regulatory
bodies and individuals alike. Instructions have ranged from advice
and representation, not only within regulatory proceedings where
there is a criminal crossover, but also with regards to independent
criminal prosecutions.
Members of Chambers are regularly instructed in wider regulatory
issues revolving around Local Authorities, Education & Social
Care, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Environmental issues and
referrals to CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union).

appearing in cases in the lower tier of the Asylum and Immigration
Tribunal through to the Court of Appeal.
Pupils in their 3rd six are always taken on with a
view to Tenancy. We expect the highest standards and we offer the
highest standards of training and supervision. Chambers is
currently in the process of applying to become an Authorised
Education and Training Organisation and through this process we are
developing extensive policies to allow all pupils greater
flexibility in the way that their pupillage is organised and
supported.
Chambers has a handbook and policy for pupils, available on
request and full details of chambers services can be found on our
website www.9kbw.com

18 St John Street
Chambers
Manchester
M3 4EA
Tel: 0161 278 1800
18 St John Street is a large, Manchester based, multi-practice
chambers with a dynamic civil and personal injury team. We act in
cases covering the full spectrum of common law civil litigation in
the north-west of England and beyond. As a result of a high
volume of work, we are looking to recruit a probationary tenant to
start as soon as possible, with a view to becoming a permanent
tenant.
Members of the department regularly appear in cases of high
value and complexity. We offer experienced professional
advice from the earliest stages of litigation through to its
conclusion acting for claimants and defendants.
As so much of civil litigation is capable of resolution without
recourse to the courts, the ability to draft articulate pleadings
and schedules is central and applicants will be expected to
demonstrate that they have developed these skills during
pupillage. The successful applicant will demonstrate a
commitment to building a strong, successful civil and personal
injury practice on the Northern Circuit.
The probationary tenant will be allocated a member of chambers
as a mentor, however, they will also be a part of a friendly,
supportive team who are always happy to make themselves available,
in addition to specialist civil clerks. This probationary
tenancy will last for six months and is unfunded; the successful
candidate will be expected to generate their own income. Successful
applicants can expect to be busy and in court regularly.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and should be
made by way of CV and covering letter addressed to: Naomi
Callender, Assistant to the Chambers' Manager at ncallender@18sjs.com.
All information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
