The Criminal Bar Association (CBA) has set up a Hardship Fund to help CBA members who are suffering financial hardship. The fund is available to all CBA members, regardless of year of Call or seniority.

The Bar Council is providing administrative support to manage the receipt of donations and delivery of funds. Each application will be assessed on an individual basis in strict confidence by the CBA’s specialist panel of Silks, led by Tana Adkin QC.

Applications

Applicants will need to complete an application form providing information about the financial hardship they are experiencing and stating the amount of financial assistance required. Applications will be handled in the strictest of confidence.

More information is available on the CBA website. Any questions or queries should be directed to [email protected]

The CBA is encouraging members not to wait until they are in significant difficulty. Members are invited to make an early enquiry and to encourage junior colleagues to do the same.

Donations

Members across the Bar are invited to offer support through donations to the CBA Hardship Fund to be distributed to colleagues in the criminal Bar who are experiencing in financial hardship.

The Bar Council is providing administrative support to the CBA Hardship Fund. Donations should be made by BACS or direct transfer to the Bar Council account using the reference SUPPORT2022. An email should also be sent to [email protected] detailing the date and amount of the donation.

Further information is available on the CBA website.
