As well as appearing in courts and tribunals at every level in England and Wales, members of Chambers appear frequently as advocates and offer advice alongside other lawyers in jurisdictions around the world, including the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, the UAE, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Gibraltar, China, Hong Kong, Switzerland and Singapore.
We pride ourselves on our fair and rigorous recruitment process, and focus determinedly on our pupils’ training.
About the candidate:
We welcome applications for probationary tenancy from pupils who have undertaken substantial commercial and/or chancery work in the course of their previous pupillage.
A probationary tenancy at XXIV Old Buildings will comprise a further period of training of up to six months in preparation for a career at the bar, of the kind that is offered to our 12-month pupils during their second six. As our focus is on training, development, and evaluation, opportunities for probationary tenants to undertake their own work will be limited, which is reflected in our generous guaranteed earnings.
We are concerned to make all our pupils’ experiences in chambers interesting and enjoyable and hope that the probationary tenancy would provide a suitable foundation for a thriving future career at XXIV Old Buildings. Whilst a probationary tenancy may last for up to six months, we would look where possible to make a full tenancy decision earlier in the process.
