Following the publication of our 'Bullying, harassment and discrimination at the Bar' report, we have committed to establishing a Bar-wide review to tackle the issues and behaviours identified in the report.

The review will:

  • consider the impact of different types of bullying, harassment and inappropriate behaviours on barristers, chambers’ employees, and clients
  • identify improvements to existing reporting and other processes when these behaviours are experienced, and complaints are made
  • consider effective prevention and mitigating strategies

The review will start work in Spring 2024 and report the following year. We want to give everyone at the Bar an opportunity to set the terms of reference.

Give your ideas and feedback

We are now encouraging barristers to submit ideas and feedback for the review, and to also help us identity good examples of existing initiatives (in any sector) to tackle bullying, harassment and other inappropriate behaviours.
