In our 2021 and 2024 Race at the Bar reports, we provided recommended actions for chambers and organisations to undertake. All of our recommendations have been drafted to be in line with the BSB’s anti-racist statement. In the statement, the BSB asks chambers and barristers to take action.

This training is one of 4 anti-racist actions you’re required to implement. Our Race equality toolkit shows you how to act on race inequality in your chambers or organisation.

What will I learn?

This introductory training course covers anti-racism and is designed to raise awareness of race equality issues at the Bar. General equality and diversity training is not sufficient to address race equality at the Bar.

We’ll give you a summary of your legal and regulatory duties as well as introducing different types of racism. You'll be guided through a series of practical exercises and scenarios drawn from the experience of barristers from ethnic minority backgrounds, providing an invaluable starting point for further training and education on race.
