Background of the China Training Scheme

The Bar Council Training Scheme for Chinese lawyers is now in its fourth year. The scheme builds on the success of the Lord Chancellor's Training Scheme, which came to an end in April 2011. The programme focuses cheifly on international commercial law with a particular emphasis on dispute resolution which is delivered through a one-week bespoke academic programme, generously provided pro-bono by BPP Law School, a week of visits to Courts and legal institutions and five weeks of practical placements in chambers. This is supplemented with a programme of evening legal seminars delivered by barristers and by social networking events.
