The Bar Council's Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee is holding an all-day mediation advocacy training event, which aims to:

  • Improve your advocacy when representing clients in mediations

  • How best to work with mediators, clients and opponents as a representative in mediations

  • Consider how to prepare yourself and the client for a mediation

The day will begin with talks on topical issues in mediation and on mediation advocacy. The rest of the programme will consist of the conduct of a real-time mediation(s), with delegates role-playing the parties and their representatives, with assistance from members of the ADR Committee as mediators and moderators. It will be followed by a Q&A session to examine lessons learned.

The training is designed to be of value to mediators as well as to those new to mediation.


The mediation advocacy training event will be held at the Bar Council offices, 289-293 High Holborn, London, WC1V 7HZ from 09:00 - 17:00.

  • £80 + VAT for those who have paid the Bar Representation Fee (BRF)
