President Trump has launched unprecedented attacks on constitutional rules and norms, from denying birthright citizenship to using wartime powers in peacetime. He has removed government lawyers and attacked the independence of law firms.
In this talk, David Cole, former legal director of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and a professor at Georgetown and Columbia Law schools, will discuss the legal challenges filed, the courts' response and the implications for the next three years and beyond.

Professor Cole is the Honourable George J. Mitchell Professor in Law and Public Policy at Georgetown University Law Center and former National Legal Director of ACLU. He writes and teaches on constitutional law, freedom of speech, and constitutional criminal procedure. He is a regular contributor to The New York Review of Books and is the legal affairs correspondent for The Nation.
