Who is this course for?

Clerks and Practice Managers who want to manage and support public access barristers and their clients. 

What will I learn?

Once you’ve completed this course, you’ll:

  • Be able to use and implement resources, systems and processes to support public access barristers and public access clients
  • Recognise the risks with public access work and know how to mitigate them
  • Develop excellence in client communication and client relationship management
  • You'll understand:
    • Your barristers' responsibilities to their public access clients
    • The regulatory rules for client money and payments in advance
    • Considerations for accurate fee estimates and fixed fees
    • The importance of client care letters in public access instructions
    • How the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 might apply to public access instructions

After the course

  • You’ll have the knowledge to support a successful public access practice for your chambers
  • You’ll have access to resources such as guidance documents and a workbook specific to our course to support public access practice
