We're making our first business development visit to Vietnam, a rising global player in Southeast Asia and home to a new international financial centre.

With a new specialised court and arbitration centre, Vietnam is looking to become a global investment and dispute resolution hub. It will draw on common law principles, creating an opportunity for barristers to build a presence and offer their world-class advocacy services to Vietnamese law firms.

We'll be visiting Hanoi on 26-27 October and Ho Chi Minh on 28-29 October 2026. We'll be building ties and holding joint events with national and local bar associations, meeting with law firms and members of the justice sector.

We're looking for barristers with practice interests relevant to Vietnam, including but not limited to arbitration and dispute resolution, who can be credible and compelling ambassadors for the Bar and UK legal services. You'll attend meetings with Vietnamese lawyers, and you'll also have the opportunity to speak on panels and provide training.

Whilst participation in these visits is self-funded by barristers, this year we are able to provide support for barristers in financial hardship who might otherwise not be able to attend. You can apply for this funding if accepted as a delegate or speaker.

If you're interested, please fill in the form below. The deadline for submissions is 15 July 2026.

Apply to be a speaker or a delegate

Applications are open for those wishing to join the programme as either a speaker or a delegate. To register your interest, please complete the delegate form below.

Who should apply?

We welcome applications from barristers with relevant experience or a strong interest in international work, particularly in commercial arbitration and dispute resolution.

Applicants must be Bar Representation Fee (BRF) subscribers and demonstrate an interest in engaging with legal professionals and institutions in Vietnam.

Opportunities for financial support

We now offer two means-based bursaries for those who may require financial support to participate in the programme through our International Business Development Bursary Scheme. Applicants who wish to be considered should indicate this on the application form below. If selected to participate in the visit, applicants may then apply for bursary support via the separate application form provided.

Eligible applicants may also wish to apply for the International Grants Programme, which supports barristers under seven years’ call undertaking international activities.
