Help and Advice
This section contains Help and Advice in the following areas:
- BCAS. Barristers who are subject to a complaint can seek advice from the Barristers Complaints Advisory Service (BCAS)
- Bar Quality Advisory Panel - BQAP
- Equality and Diversity Advisers helpline
- Ethical Enquiries Line
- The Fees Collection Department can provide assistance to barristers who are owed money by solicitors
- LawCare: assistance for lawyers with work related health problems such as stress and depression and addictive illnesses
- Wasted Costs Orders
Arbitrations
Occasionally disputes can arise in Chambers and the Bar Council provides a free arbitration and conciliation service to subscribers to assist in resolving these issues. Click here for further information.
BarCo Services
BarCo was set up by The General Council of the Bar in 2000 to provide barristers, clerks, chambers support staff, and in some cases, their families and associates, with access to a range of high quality products and services that offer value for money and are tailored for the Bar community. The Bar Handbook is a new annual publication from the Bar Council with Lexis Nexis Butterworths. For the first time, it brings together all the Bar Council’s current guidance and advice, ordered and contextualised by the authors, in a single point of reference.
