In celebration of the opening of the legal year, this event will bring together bar representatives and senior judges from across the globe, who have been invited to London by the Bar Council, The Law Society and the UK’s Judicial Office. The event will be a unique opportunity to discuss bar and bench comparative experiences and the ways in which Court User Groups and technology have assisted in improving the delivery of real justice. The networking reception also presents a fantastic opportunity to meet and connect with lawyers from across the globe.

16:30 - 16:40 - Welcome by The Rt Hon Lord Justice Dingemans

16:40 - 16:55 - Part 1: Court User Groups: comparative experiences
A panel session to discuss how different jurisdictions use Court User Groups (CUGs). The discussion will include which courts have CUGs, frequency of meetings, types of participants, decision-making abilities, and outcome of meetings.

This session will discuss whether technology has increased collaboration and the abilities of court users to participate in proceedings, or whether the challenges of achieving real justice have increased.
