Simon Colton QC

Chambers:  One Essex Court

Areas of Practice:     Commercial

Year of Call: 1999

Year of Silk: 2017

Simon Colton QC was called to the Bar in 1999, and has been in practice at One Essex Court ever since, save for a nine month career break in 2012. He was a member of the Attorney General's 'B' panel from 2011, and was appointed to the 'A' panel in 2015. Simon was a member of the BSB's Complaints Committee from 2007 to 2012, and has been Vice Chair of the (re-named) Professional Conduct Committee since 2016.  Simon applied for Silk in March 2016.

Simon has supervised seventeen pupils since 2007, with a range of strengths and weaknesses, the large majority of whom subsequently became tenants in Chambers. He has overcome the challenge of applying for Silk following a career break, and also learnt - from experience, followed by training - how to survive a competency-based interview.
