Bar Conference 2026 

The Bar Conference is our flagship event for barristers and other legal professionals in England and Wales. Bar Conference 2026 will welcome up to 200 legal professionals, government figures, press and affiliate organisations. Attendees will join us in person to network, socialise and engage with colleagues from across the legal profession. We’ll welcome a wide-range of expert speakers, including government officials, who will explore subjects at the heart of the Bar.

Pupillage Fair 

Our Pupillage Fair is the largest recruitment fair run by the Bar, for the Bar of the future. The fair is held every year with the support of the Council of the Inns of Court and Specialist Bar Associations.  

The Pupillage Fair provides exhibitors with the opportunity to engage with aspiring barristers, nearly 80% of whom will be seeking to apply for pupillage in the same year.

International Rule of Law Lecture 

Our annual event aims to encourage awareness of the importance of the rule of law to all, particularly those in legal practice, and to stimulate debate and to inspire lawyers, academics, judges and students to support the rule of law in their work. 

It has become a prestigious event in the English legal calendar, attracting a distinguished audience to include: practitioners, members of the judiciary, politicians, the press and students.

Law Reform Lecture 

Our annual law reform lecture is organised by our Law Reform Committee and attended by a wide audience from across the Bar and judiciary.

This year we will welcome the Attorney-General and Mrs Justice Eady to deliver a keynote speech joined by a panel of guests to discuss their perspective of modern slavery and the future of the law.

Anglo-Dutch Exchange 

The Anglo-Dutch exchange is a programme that's been run by our Young Barristers’ Committee and the Young Bars of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and The Hague since 1966. Its aim is to build on the jurisdictions' two common principles: improving access to justice and upholding the rule of law. 

It’s a great opportunity for barristers early on in their careers to meet and learn from fellow legal practitioners from a different jurisdiction.
